New Projects

Here is some zbrush work I have done on a new project. The modeling was done by Colten Janssen. Painting and sculpting were done by me. This is all Property of Katun Studios who I am now working for :) Hopefully I will have more things to show off soon. I wont be able to tell you what it is but at least you can look at it.

Aliens! (textured)

These are renders of the alien animation textured. This shot is in my demo reel that I will be posting an updated of soon. I will most likely be creating a Vimeo account to post my demo reel on and have my blog linked to it.

Business Card

Here are what my business cards are going to look like. After going through several designs this is the one I chose.

Aliens!

These are some test renders of an animated short I am going to do. It is about an abducted pig. The final piece wont be done for a few months because I am focusing on my demo reel for now. I will have some test animations from it in my demo reel.

Modeling Finished!

I have finished modeling my Warhammer 40k tank. The plan is to animate it for a personal group project. Texturing all of the tank parts will take awhile . . . at least if I want it to look good.

Final Character for Port Project

This is the last character that I have for my animation. He is basiclly an evolved turtle that has plants and corral growing on his back. In the end he will have the plants on his back (they are just planes now) animated. He is my highest poly character so far for the project being just over 4k polys. The others average around 2k each.

Portfolio Project Buildings

For my animation I took a different approach then I usually do. Instead of doing a very mechanical and orderly animation I have decided to go for a abstract and cartoony animation. I tried to go for a mix of Dr. Seuss and sponge bob. I have steped well away from my comfort zone and I believe that I am coming close to creating my own style.

Portfolio Project Characters

Here are some character turnabouts for my final portfolio animation. I still have one character to finish. When I am done with him I will post his turnabout. Right now I am working on my scene witch I will post shots very soon and then it is on to texturing and rigging. The entire animation is going to be done in 5 more weeks.

In the Factory

Here it is . . . finally, the animation that I did a few months ago for my animation studio class. I couldn't render it on the schools computers and I didn't have max 2010 working on my computer. But I got max working and have spent the last 2 days rendering. I hope you enjoy my animation.

Rock Out With Your Cactus Out

This is what I did for my 2D animation final. The project was to set an animation to music through a lip sync/ musical. So what I did is I made some cacti rock out to some Slipnot. The project was done in Toon Boom and in 2 weeks.

Internship Animation

This is part of what I have been working on for my internship with Artifact Pictures. The full project is an animated short of 2d and 3d. I have been working on the 3d end of things. This is a test animation of the carousel that I have modeled.

Tank Turret

This is the turret of a tank model I am working on. The turret isn't completely done but is close. In the end I am going to have it textured and animated (I am going to have it cut a building in two with its chain cannons). The design is inspired by Warhammer 40K.

Background Design

This is some of the work that I did for background design about a year ago. I would have to say they look alright due to the fact we had to do 3 to 4 projects a week. I really enjoy doing background design and have done some recently for animations of mine. I will post those some other time.

Illustrator Work

This was a poster that I made for typography class. "Sticks and stones can break your bones but words can cut down into the soul" (sounds like a professional quote . . . if no one else has said it it's my quote)
Another poster for typography class. This one blends (and makes fun of) fashion and communism.

This is a magazine page I created. I focused on the layout but the content is my words.
This is work that I did in illustrator over a year ago. I am not a graphic designer or anything like it but it is still decent work. You might even see some of this work in my portfolio.

Getting Older

This is the final that I did for Z-Brush class. The assignment was to take a head model and then age it to be 80-90 years old. In the last render I aged it beyond 90 just for fun (it is unrealistic and stylized but looks funny and cool).

Robot Factory Arms

All of the modeling is done. Time to start on materials and then animation. Once basic animation is complete I will make proxy objects of my entire scene to make it look like an endless assembly line.

Robot Factory Track

This is the track for the animation. Soon I will build the robot arms. This project is going by smoother than I thought it would. I hope to get to the animation aspect very soon.

Robot Factory Walls

I have started on my second animation studio animation. It is going to be an animation of an endless robot factory that builds itself. I have just completed the walls and now I will start on the robotarms and track. I should have more to show by next week.

Midterm Assignment

I just completed my 10 second midterm assignment for animation studio. In all it was six weeks to go from concept to fully textured and lit animation. I also might do some post effects with it (I wanted to do heat waves for the background) but that won't be done for a while longer. Enjoy.

Z brush Monstrosity

This is my first manipulation in z-brush with my own character. Work flow: start with z-spheres/z-sketch, export to Maya for clean up and uv's, then brought back in z brush for sculpting. I will most likely redo this character by starting in Maya then going to z-brush. Z-spheres increased my poly count way too much making more subdivisions impossible.

Animation Studio Texturing

I have my scene almost fully textured (shoes and background need some more work), and my characters are rigged. The complete animation with sound is due in less than 2 weeks, so I will have the full animation posted by then. Everything is now coming together and I am excited to see how things turn out.

Animation Studio Biped

This is the biped character that I am going to use for my animation. The base model was created by fellow animator Lance Nelson. I should have him rigged and ready to animate in the next week.
